Nurai The Island of Beauty

z(By Ricky Dutta) In the year 2010, the world’s rich and famous will have enough reason to be flocking in droves to a relatively small island located on the northeast of Abu Dhabi. The island spanning across just 130,000-square-meter, is getting transmogrified into the most enchanting and lavish playground – with a plush resort and an exclusive private residential estate coming up side by side. It is quite fitting that this luxurious paradise on earth goes by the name of Nurai. The word “Nurai” is derived from the Arabic word “nour” meaning light; surrounded by clear waters and ringed by pristine sandy beaches, the ethereal beauty of this island is as sublime as any pristine ray of light.

The place is set in the midst of deep cerulean sea and yet it is minutes away from mainland. The idea is to provide the residents with abundant pieces of land and ultimate privacy on an island exorcised of the maddening hustle and bustle of city life. If anything, it does not take much time for anyone of us to get used to living in the lap of luxury. And if the luxury you are experiencing is personalized, then you start basking in the notion that it is in your own private palace where you are being pampered. That is the feeling that Nurai is all set to evoke - the feeling of being the denizen of a personalized palace.

The Dazzling Design
Once the work on Nurai is completed the property will consist of one boutique luxury hotel resort with 60 suites, 31 beach front estates, and 36 water villas. Many of the most sweeping structures built on the island have gone underneath leaving the surface area free for a vibrant carpet of greenery to sweep across it. In fact, the island conjures the atmosphere of a paradisiacal Eden, with much of its land enveloped by carefully landscaped gardens. The majestic water villas come in two strands that extend into the ocean, and the beach front estates are integrated into the gently undulating landscape.

The boutique resort at Nurai is being built with such finesse that it can easily compare with the best resorts in the world in terms of the amenities and luxuries that it offers and also in terms of its magnificent ambiance and grand architectural concept. The resort comes with three world-class restaurants and multiple lounges. The private helipad and marina with arrivals lounge are more than adequate to keep you well connected with Abu Dhabi city and the rest of the world. A fully equipped spa and fitness center, private beaches and a gamut of water sports facilities will keep even the most adventurous types busy.

Two kinds of themes inspire the design of the beach front estates – ‘The Shoreline’ and the ‘The Seaside’. Both types of estates consist of a fastidiously built accommodation that is spread over an area of 12,275 square feet. The difference lies in the number of rooms

and also in the architectural aspects. The Shoreline estates consist of six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, whereas the Seaside estates has five bedrooms and six baths. In finishing these lavish accommodations no detail has been overlooked. A plethora of luxurious amenities such as a private beach and rooftop garden, an infinity swimming pool, concealed service quarters and outdoor showers are just some of the unique features.

But it is the Water Villas that are truly geared to provide you with an unparalleled over water living experience. These are immaculately designed homes that are built over the surface of crystal clear waters surrounding the island. Each home spread over an area of 5,540 square feet has three bedrooms and four bathrooms. You can expect a whole range of amenities that are quintessentially conducive to a regal lifestyle - a private beach, rooftop garden with spa pool, infinity pool, outdoor barbecue area, gourmet kitchen and concealed service quarters. Imagine the delight of cavorting in a swimming pool built over the surface of the sea! Something like that is only possible at Nurai’s Water Villas.

The Visionary Creators
Zaya is the name of the Abu Dhabi based real estate company that is engaged in building Nurai. Nadia Zaal, the CEO of Zaya says, “My real estate company has a passion for creating unique lifestyle solutions that goes beyond bricks and mortar. Using our unique understanding of the clientele and refusing to be bound by convention, Nurai is the most stylish contemporary living experience in the world”.

The project’s creative side is being looked after by Dror, New York’s famous multidisciplinary design studio. Dror is relatively young studio, as New York-based designer Dror Benshetrit founded it only in 2002. Together these two entities, Zaya and Dror have found a visionary way to turn this virgin island into a bastion of luxury. But rampant construction is clearly not on their agenda. The makers of Nurai are doing everything to preserve the intrinsic natural beauty of the island’s environment.

The resort opens in the year 2010 - that is how long you have to wait if you wish to discover paradise on earth. The sales of the beach front estates and water villas will begin shortly. SHVO, the versatile real estate marketing firm, is handling sales and marketing. So if you are flush with cash and you want to live in the company of movers and shakers then Nurai is your destination.
